Katie McInnis joined the CISNT team in 2017 as an AmeriCorps Volunteer Management VISTA, after moving with her family to North Texas. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English Honors in 2015 from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where she also started her career in the nonprofit sector teaching ACT prep to Detroit Public School students. During her year of service, Katie fell in love with CISNT’s mission and dedication to helping students succeed. She believes education is critical for a person to be successful later in life and loves how CISNT’s mission meets each student where they’re at with support tailored to their personal situation. Katie currently serves as our Volunteer Coordinator. She is responsible for the recruitment, onboarding, and management of our incredible pool of community volunteers who provide over 7,000 hours of positive encouragement and support for our students each school year.
In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, making audio books, practicing martial arts, and playing games of all types.
